Often political and anti-establishment as well as aggressive and rebellious, Punk was a youth culture which re-invigorated music.

The term ‘Mod’ came from the fashion side and the clothes worn by beatnik fans of modern jazz, but the music of the movement was rooted in soul and R’n’B, embracing ska and beat-pop.
