In the wake of Janis’ recent sold-out tour of the UK, Holland and Belgium (and Edsel’s successful “Best Of Janis Ian”), we now present her 2 CD live album. Recorded at shows from 1990 to 2003 in the UK (at London’s Royal Festival Hall and Dominion Theatre, and Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall), the US, Japan and Holland, the 24 songs include both band and solo performances.
To quote from Janis’ website: “Janis started recording her performances back in the eighties. When the opportunity arose to release a live album, Janis reviewed 400 hours of concert recordings in a variety of formats, looking for the best of the best. Those selections were filtered down to the 24 songs on this album. Offered as a “live to 2 track” recording, the production team eschewed studio tricks and instead delivered to the listener the exact experience of the performance”.
This set includes renditions of her biggest songs “At Seventeen”, “Fly Too High”, “Jesse”, “Society’s Child”, “Stars” and her version of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Were Made For Walking” (unavailable elsewhere).
The booklet features lengthy notes by Janis herself along with many photos. Janis will be playing European dates throughout 2012.
