Centered around teenage singing and songwriting sensation Roddy Frame, Aztec Camera gained great popularity throughout the 80s with their unique and accessible New Wave sound. Here comes a double CD definitive set that encompasses the very best work from Frame and the numerous other musicians he worked with as Aztec Camera.
Frame was just a teenager when he first begun his years of critical acclaim catching the attention of legendary DJ and tastemaker John Peel with 1981’s “Mattress Of Wire” – an early Postcard Records single. Frame and his band’s debut album featured such tracks as “Walk Out To Winter” and “Oblivious” and his mature and poetic lyrics began to resonate with an ever increasing army of fans.
There then followed a further five studio albums for Aztec Camera that saw Frame in the recording studio with Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler on production duties for second album ‘Knife’, duetting with The Clash’s Mick Jones on the track “Good Morning Britain” and having a UK Chart #3 single with “Somewhere In My Heart”.
Award winning Absolute Radio daily drive-time presenter Geoff Lloyd lends himself to write the sleeve notes to add further value to this package with contributions from Roddy Frame himself, a good friend of Lloyd’s.
Not only is this the first available 2CD Aztec Camera Greatest Hits compilation, it is also the only one to be available at a mid-price point.
