Disco Discharge is back! The highly acclaimed series returns for its third outing in February to provide some sublime, class and a ’lil bit of European sensibility to the Winter nights.
Disco didn’t die after ’79 – it just moved to Europe. Whilst the USA went back to its rock roots and the UK was immersed in the mod-revival and the New Romantic movement, mainland Europe was dancing to a completely different beat and this album showcases some of the best European dance music of the 80’s and features 22 full length 12” or long album versions of much sought-after classics.
CD 1 kicks of with the smash hit ‘Dolce Vita’ by Ryan Paris, a true Italo classic which eventually crossed-over and became a UK smash following it’s exposure in the continental clubs. Other standout tracks are ‘Desert Place’ by The Twins, ‘Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. For Love)’ by German superstars Modern Talking, the RARE Dub mix of ‘Boys’ by Sabrina, Italo stomper ‘Danger For Love’ by Deborah & the scintillating Re-Edit of ‘Gipsy Queen’ by Gipsy & Queen, a frantic Euro NRG hit which was a huge hit on the UK Gay scene.
CD 2 starts in style with the Horse Meat Disco favourite ‘Comanchero’ by Moon Ray. Other highlights are ‘Don’t Hold Back, a funky workout form Disco Discharge regulars Kano, ‘Love Taker’ from Kano member Stefano Pulga, the awesome ‘He’s Speedy Like Gonzalez’ by Passengers, the Dutch electronic classic, ‘Get Up Action’ by Digital Emotion, ‘America Medley with Machinery’ by Cruisin’ Gang and for the grand finale, an early example of epic Euro house with the pulsating ‘We Gotta Do It’ by DJ Professor feat Zappalla.
