• Edsel presents the fifth set of re-releases from the Holland-Dozier-Holland catalogue of recordings, originally issued on the Invictus and Hot Wax labels. Set up by the famed songwriting team after they left Motown, this important catalogue features albums by Chairmen Of The Board, Freda Payne, Parliament, Lamont Dozier, Laura Lee, the Honey Cone, Ruth Copeland and many more.
• The Honey Cone were made up of three prominent backing singers: Carolyn Willis had been a member of Phil Spector’s Bob B. Soxx,& The Blue Jeans, Edna Wright was a member of Ray Charles’ Raelettes, and Shellie Clark had served time as one of Ike Turner’s Ikettes.
• Together they charted nine R&B hits, including two number 1s, “Stick Up” and “Want Ads”, the latter of which also reached number 1 on the US pop charts. This package includes all four of their albums issued between 1969 and 1972 HDH's Hot Wax label, along with seven bonus tracks.
• The booklet is fully annotated by HDH authority Tony Rounce, and features many rare singles labels.
