- After writing and recording the controversial hit “Society’s Child” when she was fifteen, Janis went on to record four albums for MGM’s Verve label and one for Capitol, before taking a break.
- She re-emerged on the CBS label in 1974, now aged 23, with the album “Stars” which featured both the title song (covered by Mel Torme and Cher) and “Jesse”, which had already been a hit for Roberta Flack.
- “Aftertones” was released in 1976 and consolidated the worldwide success of “Between The Lines”, particularly in the UK and Japan.
- Both albums feature a bonus track apiece: live versions of “Jesse” and “Love Is Blind”.
