Demon Vision proudly presents the September 2006 release of Antone’s Home of the Blues, Directed by Grammy and Emmy award winner Dan Karlock whose credits include Law and Order. The critically acclaimed documentary celebrates the illustrious history of the club as well as its founder/owner, lifetime blues devotee Clifford Antone. Antone, who recently passed away (May 23, 2006), was one of the pioneers of showcasing the blues, and this film gives a valuable insight into the many iconic performances that graced his stage.
Taking an unprecedented look at the musical heart and soul of a nation, Antone’s: Home of the Blues lovingly chronicles the man, the place and the musicians that have made Antone’s “the nations best blues club” (USA Today). Packed with vintage performances the film is highlighted by onstage footage of Albert Collins, Sue Foley, Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Kim Wilson. In addition to the music Antone’s: Home of the Blues also features interviews with Clifford Antone, B.B. King, Marcia Ball, Joe Ely, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Willie Nelson.
A beacon for legends and newcomers, the club is still a thriving and well -attended venue with artists such as Corrine Bailey Rae headlining its stage in upcoming months (See myspace.com/antonesnightclub and antones.net).
On its release in the US, Antone’s Home of the Blues received rave reviews from critics and blues supporters alike. An Official Selection at the South by Southwest and Austin Film Festivals, it received a standing ovation at its premiere.
