Continuing our programme to re-issue the classic late 70s/early 80s albums recorded for Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff’s Philadelphia International label. All the releases feature packaging containing expert annotation and photos.
Archie Bell and The Drells’ first hit was the revolutionary “Tighten Up” on Atlantic, which sold 3 million copies in 1968. After more releases on Atlantic and the TK imprint Glades, they joined Philadelphia International and Gamble & Huff, who had produced some of their Atlantic releases.
This release features the three albums that Bell and his Drells made for PIR in 1976, 1977 and 1979, and contain the hits “Everybody Have A Good Time”, “Glad You Could Make It”, and “Strategy”.
