Here we present two albums recorded by Philadelphia International’s biggest stars, issued in 1977 and 1982. Kenneth Gamble was (and still is!) passionately concerned about rejuvenating the ghettos of Philadelphia, and put together the “Let’s Clean Up The Ghetto” album to draw attention to the problem. All the tracks were recorded exclusively for the album by PIR’s biggest acts and are unavailable elsewhere.
“Live On Stage” was recorded at Bailey’s in Leicester, England in the mid-70’s but not issued until 1982, when it was given an extremely limited release (it is now almost impossible to find). It features some of PIR’s top stars delivering excellent renditions of their hits.
The booklet is authoritatively annotated by Tony Rounce.
