After 10cc split in 1976, the remaining ‘pop’ half continued to issue successful 10cc singles and albums, as was expected from songwriters of their pedigree. But no-one knew quite what to expect of the more inventive, humorous and downright clever half of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, who had left to develop their musical invention the “Gizmo”.
First off, they confused everyone by issuing the triple album “Consequences” in 1977. This album was only properly assessed when the highlights were released on a single album (MUSIC FROM ‘CONSEQUENCES’) in 1979, which we now present as the first half of this 2-on-1 mid-price release. The tracklisting now includes all seven vocal tracks from the original album, including guest appearances from Sarah Vaughan and Peter Cook (not on the same track!), along with three instrumental tracks that demonstrate the capabilities of the Gizmo.
This other half of this CD features G & C’s 1978 follow-up to “Consequences”, the economically-titled “L”, that bears far more relation to the style and ‘sound’ that realised its commercial peak with “Under Your Thumb” and the “Ismism” album.
