Kicking off their recording career in 1965 with a Texan attempt to imitate the records of the "British Invasion" with "She’s About A Mover", the Sir Douglas Quintet chalked up a US # 13 hit and, amazingly, a UK # 15 hit.
This began a run for the SDQ that endured throughout the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s, until Doug’s death in November 1999. Doug also fashioned a career as a solo artist alongside another successful venture as a leader of Grammy-winning Tex-Mex supergroup, The Texas Tornadoes.
This 2CD mid-price annotated compilation features 41 tracks taken from the recordings made for Houston-based company Music Enterprises between 1964 and 1977. Together these songs go some way towards illustrating the following quote from the late Doug Sahm himself: "I’m a part of Willie Nelson’s world and at the same time I'm a part of the Grateful Dead’s. I don't ever stay in one bag".
