Continuing the Edsel label’s David Essex CBS album re-issue programme. All six albums are being issued in three packages, each containing two complete albums on two discs, but at the single disc price.
Beautifully packaged and annotated, both of these two albums appear on CD for the first time, despite the fact the "David Essex" album (his second release, in 1974) remained in the UK album charts for six months, and was a huge seller worldwide.
The first disc contains the very successful "David Essex" album which reached # 2 in the UK album chart in October 1974, and features "Gonna Make You A Star" (a # 1 hit), "Stardust" (# 7), as featured in the film of the same name, and "America" (# 32).
The second disc contains Essex’s 1976 album "Out On The Street". His fourth studio album, it features longer tracks than before, alongside two hit singles in "City Lights" and "Coming Home". Both albums were produced by Jeff Wayne, (who went on to create the highly successful "War Of The Worlds" album) and feature the cream of the UK session musicians (Chris Spedding, Herbie Flowers, Julie Covington etc).
David Essex remains perennially popular, and has just published his 2002 autobiography in paperback.
